Established in the
mid-80s and currently held by Dr.
Petty, the Hospital Pharmacologist position
is designed to bring a clinical pharmacologist's
perspective and expertise to the pharmacy-patient
interface. The Hospital Pharmacologist investigates
and recommends the rational use of drugs within
the Hospital; teaches rational drug use at all levels:
medical students, housestaff, attending physicians;
coordinates the Clinical Pharmacology Consultation
service; serves as Chairman of the Pharmacy and
Therapeutics Committee; assists the Hospital in
meeting regulatory needs; assesses and recommends
the appropriate use of expensive drugs; and provides
physician advice and feedback to the pharmacy regarding
policy review and revision.
The
Drug Information Center
is a service, provided
jointly by the Department of Pharmacy and the Division
of Clinical Pharmacology, for healthcare professionals
at The Johns Hopkins Medical Institutions.

ADMINISTRATION
Administrative Staff in the Division of Clinical Pharmacology consist of our Division Manager (Jeannette Fanning, MA who has been with the university since 1994 and in Clinical Pharmacology since 2002); Budget Assistant (Shanel Watty, has been with the Division 8 years) and Administrative Secretary (Latasha Simms, who has been with us for a year). The Administrative Staff provides services to the Division in the areas of financial oversight, payroll and human services management, sponsored projects support and budget preparation, interfacing with hospital and university credentialing, and day-to-day secretarial support.
